Getty Conservation Institute shares a co-authored free publication

In cooperation with scientists from the Getty Conservation Institute and Canadian Conservation Institute we prepared a publication of guidelines for using Acoustic Emission (AE) to monitor cultural heritage. The treatise was prepared mainly with conservators and scientists conducting heritage research in mind, but we encourage everyone interested to check it out.

Acoustic emission is a highly sensitive and non-destructive technique that allows continuous monitoring of damage processes in materials and objects. Dr Marcin Strojecki is a specialist in AE in our group.

This „open-access” publication gives comprehensive information on hardware, sensors and measurement protocols, along with methods for data analysis. “Acoustic Emission Monitoring for Cultural Heritage” also examines the advantages and limitations of the technique for detecting, recording and interpreting damage.

We strongly encourage you to read the publication!
