On September 24-25, 2019, a meeting was held for international experts participating in the research and conservation program of the Veit Stoss Altar planned for 2015-2021.
Attendees presented the progress of conservation work and a summary of previous studies. Issues related to long-term studies of microclimate stability in the altar environment and the concentration of particulate matter in the air were discussed to determine if these factors posed any threat to the piece. An expert from our team, Dr. Marcin Strojecki, was consulted on these issues due to his work with particulate matter deposition from 2014-2015 as part of the project “The impact of heating historic churches on the transfer and deposition of dust” financed by the National Science Center.
