We are happy to present the new version of HERIe!

A new, refreshed version of HERIe has been available online since mid-December.

The main change is the expansion of the database of objects for calculations with parchment. Books and manuscripts often make up the majority of collections in museums, which is why conservators often have to answer the question about the level of risk they face. The graphs obtained in HERI will allow users to quantitatively evaluate parameters such as strain and degree of curling of parchment depending on changes in the relative humidity of the environment.

Since 2017, the Getty Conservation Institute has provided funds for further development of the software, as part of its Managing Collection Environments Initiative. Development of HERIe was also supported by project CRAQUELURE funded by Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

Another function that we added to the software is the ability to display the results of calculations for several objects of the same type, e.g. two paintings on a board of different thickness under the influence of given climate. This visualization facilitates the selection of optimal conditions for a wider collection of objects.

We have extended the charts options with a possibility to manually narrow them to the selected time window. Other compatible charts automatically adjust to display data in the new range.

Above we present some new HERIe functions. The gray area highlights the selection that will allow you to limit the time window to the selected range.

The last but not the least change is to refresh the graphic design. We hope that our users will enjoy the new version. We encourage you to find out!
