Our laboratory has turned into a workshop worthy of one of the old masters! Noemi Zabari and Kasia PoznaĆska, together with Dr. Ola Hola, have been working on the production of tempera samples suitable for mechanical tests for several weeks. In previous posts, we reported that it is not an easy task, but our colleagues managed to quickly master the necessary skills.
From among the pigments commonly used in tempera painting, we chose three for our research:
- ocher,
- azurite,
- and lead white.
Currently, in the laboratory we produce samples that will be tested for fracture toughness, tensile strength and sorption properties. Such a comprehensive set of parameters will allow the creation of a reliable model for computer simulations.

Kasia’s skills gained during her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts are invaluable here!
