Research visit in Vilnius

This year, our colleague Marcin Strojecki completed a year-long environmental monitoring program at the Dominican Church of the Holy Spirit in Vilnius. The project was done in cooperation with the POLONIKA National Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad.

Long-term measurements of temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide concentration, and airborne particulate matter will allow for the assessment of environmental conditions in the Dominican Church of the Holy Spirit in Vilnius and the development of a rational microclimate control strategy for this historic building and its monuments.

As a result of non-invasive geophysical research, extensive, two-story brick underground vaults were discovered in the church in 2022. Therefore, adapting the environmental monitoring system to the specificity of this church was crucial.
